OKE-OGUN MUST PRODUCE NEXT OYO GOVERNOR

Written by Toluwani Eniola

Oke-Ogun indigenes in Oyo State, under the aegis of Oke-Ogun Project, have said they will reject any plan to zone the deputy governorship position to the area in the next election.

The group urged the All Progressives Congress and other political parties in the state to zone the governorship position to the area because it deserved to produce the next governor of the state.

In a communiqué signed by Mr. Ismail Adewoyin, Mr. Kayode Asiru and Mr. Waheed Lawal , on behalf of the group on Sunday, the group called for an end to the marginalisation of the area in government.

It said, “We are no longer interested in producing deputy governors in the state and all our sons and daughters in politics are implored not to accept deputy governorship post of any political party.

“We are not a political party but a movement that is ready to give full and total support to any political party that presents any of our sons and daughters as its governorship candidate in 2019.

“We acknowledge the good work of the present administration of Governor Abiola Ajimobi and we want him to reciprocate the support given to his party in Oke-Ogun in the last election by supporting our mission along with bringing developmental projects to our area.”

The group, comprising professionals, urged political parties to see Oke-Ogun as a big power bloc which deserves due compensation.

“Our voting capacity as demonstrated in the last election shows that we are now united and indivisible,” the group said.
